Tryon Palace historic clothing interpreter Leslie Lambrecht will lead a tour of the historic Jones House with a brief description of the house and then through the Tryon Palace Costume Shop on the first floor of the house. The costumer will discuss historical clothing research, the sewing techniques used in the past, and current projects for upcoming events.

Monogram Tray Class

Paint your monogram and have fun at the same time. You will leave with a rustic but yet beautiful tray to your home. All supplies are provided and ready for you at the day of the event. The cost of the Class is $40. Your tray will be stained or painted for your convenience. You can choose a color for your tray between off white (paint) or stain in Dark Walnut. Adult Sailing Classes

ETYSA announces: Adult Beginner Sailing Training! The course will consist of 3 hour blocks of time from 4-7PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Dates available July 12th and 13th, July 26 and 27, August 9 and 10. Register for a single class or multiple classes. Instruction will be provided by Wyatt and Peyton Russell, our ETYSA Junior Sail Camp Directors and USSailing Certified Sailing Instructors. On the water Training will take place using the Topaz 12 foot sloop. Students must be able to swim. There will be a maximum of 8 students in each class. Minimum of four students per class. All ETYSA members are eligible. You can become eligible by purchasing a membership in ETYSA, $25 for a single membership.

Revolutionary War Day at Tryon Palace

During Revolutionary War Day, guests will have many hands-on opportunities to experience the culture and lifeways of wartime in New Bern. Explore the life of the Revolutionary War soldier at an encampment, play soldiers’ games, learn about civilian medicine, and hear fascinating stories about the roles native New Bernians played during the American Revolution. Tryon Palace’s own First North Carolina Regiment of the Continental Line will demonstrate black powder firing at 10:30 and 2:30 on the South Lawn. Children can sign up to join the Continental Line and participate in “musket” drills on the front lawn throughout the day.
